Plant stem cells never undergo the aging process but immortally give rise to new specialized and unspecialized cells, and they have the potential to grow into any organ, tissue, or cell in the body.
Unlike animals, plants are immobile. As plants cannot escape from danger by taking motion, they need a special mechanism to withstand various and sometimes unforeseen environmental stress. What empower them to withstand harsh external influences and preserve life are stem cells.

Why to use plant stem cell extracts made in a lab?
Echinacea angustifolia is one of the most used plants in this field and to biotechnologically extract and duplicate stem cells only a few original plants are needed. The stem cells are mostly taken from the roots or shoots of the plants.
Currently in skin care products, extracts obtained this way are mainly used in anti-aging products.
Why Echinacea?
Echinacea was used as a medicinal plant by the natives of North America many centuries ago. This plant is rich with echinacoside, which have a strong, antioxidant effect.
As an extract in skin care products such as creams, serums and concentrates, echinacoside helps protect the skin from free radicals. These free radicals can cause the skin to age prematurely and are also a major cause of wrinkles.

The bad news is that Skin care products with biotechnological stem cell extracts are currently still only in the luxury market. This is because production in the lab is much more expensive than if the extracts are obtained directly from the plant.
The good news is that this method has been developed quite impressively during the recent years and even though we have a long road ahead of us, the result is quite promising!
