Skincare products come in several packaging. They can be in jars, tubes, or bottles. Have you ever questioned if this packaging is just for easy handling or any other purpose? Let’s find the answer.
Skincare products’ packaging has a very crucial role. Undoubtedly it acts as an important promotional feature. But it has an effect on the effectiveness of the product too. This is supported by two major claims by the research:
- Several creams are placed in open jars because of their thick consistency. But they often contain antioxidants that are photosensitive, like vitamin C, retinol, etc. Consistent exposure to light and air can degrade the ingredients leaving the questionable efficacy of the product.
- Open jars are not ideal for these products. Because using a contaminated finger or applicator to withdraw the product can contaminate the product. And it is an ideal position for microbes to grow in it, which can easily lead to skin infections. This is more harm than benefit.
That’s why it is better to go for pumps, tubes, and bottles. These packages are more expensive than simple jars. That’s why most companies tend to opt for jars. But no matter how fancy and beautiful a jar with air-tight claims, make a wise option by spending your money on a product that ensures its effectiveness.
