Even if we found skincare recommendations everywhere nowadays, you can still notice that some habits may cause premature skin aging.
The lack of special care, rest, and excess of bad habits and stress are some of the causes of this premature aging.
After you turn 25, it is expected that you lose a small portion of collagen each year that should be unnoticeable for the first couple of years.
Still, when we talk about premature aging, we mean that young skin will start showing fine lines, wrinkles, sagginess, and pigmentation even earlier, giving a young person an older and careless look.
Together with the lack of a daily skin routine, some environmental factors are usually among the main reasons for this aging. Still, they are a few other things we need to take into consideration, and they are:
Sun Damage
It is the main reason premature aging is caused, reaching even 80% of the total causes.
When exposed for too long and skipping SPF, your skin can lose elasticity, hyaluronic acid, and collagen. Also, enlarge pores, cause pigmentation, and make your dermis thinner.
Solution: Add retinoids, vitamin C and AHA to your daily skin routine and never skip sunscreen or physical sun barriers.
Pollution
Increases the risk of skin cancer, discoloration, sensitivity, and decreases the skin barrier function. Also, reduce the amount of skin collagen.
Solution: Add antioxidants to your routine and choose moisturizers with niacinamide and other ingredients that help to repair your skin barrier.
Smoking
Smocking is by far the worst habit for your skin; it not only decreases blood circulation of your skin but also reduces collagen and elastin, creating creases and wrinkles even three times faster than a non-smoker.
Solution: To avoid all of that, the simple answer is to quit smoking.
Inadequate Diet
Excess sugar and fried food and lack of superfood, proteins, and water will not give your skin the nutrients needed; hence collagen will be lost.
Solution: Substitute sugar with other sweeteners and avoid fried food; instead, you can boil or steam it. Also, add food rich in antioxidants like fruits.
