What Is The Difference Between Pharmaceutical Grade And Cosmetic Grade Products?

Several products are marketed by claiming to be pharmaceutical grade or cosmetic grade products. Let’s educate ourselves to understand the difference between them.

What Is The Difference Between Pharmaceutical Grade And Cosmetic Grade Products?

Not all products are the same. They vary in quality, and there are two commonly used standards to define the quality of products named pharmaceutical grade and cosmetic grade. Pharmaceutical-grade products are called so because their composition is regarded as a drug. That means they are formulated with active ingredients in their pure form. A pharmaceutical-grade means their composition is tested as per the standards. On the other hand, cosmetic grade products are those products that are available in local departmental stores, formulated with ingredients that are not pure as per the standards.

What Is The Difference Between Pharmaceutical Grade And Cosmetic Grade Products?

Cosmetic grade products are not regulated by regulatory authorities. Such products can vary in their quality in different brands. However, pharmaceutical-grade products have to comply with the given standards of regulatory bodies, and all such products will be of equal quality, irrespective of the brand. Moreover, pharmaceutical-grade products are more effective and better in quality than cosmetic grade because ingredients are of the same standards as they were in medicine. However, pharmaceutical-grade products can be more expensive than cosmetic-grade products.
