What is Slugging Skincare Trend and Why You Need to Try It?

Slugging is another K-beauty that rose to popularity from TikTok. Despite being a TikTok famous trend, it is approved by dermatologists. That’s why you definitely need to try it out. Let me explain what it is actually.

Slugging is the process of sealing your skin’s moisture by applying a thin layer of any occlusive agent. Mainly petrolatum is used. This trick aids with hydration, and dermatologists support it as it can help heal dryness and eczema.

In slugging, you need to cleanse your face properly and apply moisturizer while your skin is a little damp. After that, apply a thin layer of petrolatum-based product on top of your moisturizer. Leave this overnight and cleanse your face in the morning. You will observe your skin is more hydrated and fresher. Especially in allergic seasons, this trick soothes your skin. You can try this on any part of your body from face to toe.

Unfortunately, slugging is not for everyone. If you have very oily skin or acne-prone skin, then you definitely need to avoid it. It can make you break out. But if you have combination skin, you can do selective slugging by targeting dry spots only.
