Centella Asiatica, also known as Indian Pennywort, Asiatic Pennyworth, or Gotu Kola, has been used as a medicine for over 3000 years to improve memory but also to cure skin conditions like lepra and eczema but is mostly known for their healing properties, specifically cicatrization.

This plant is rich in flavonoids, tannins, essential oils, polyphenolic derivates. 

In cosmetics, Centella Asiatica is usually found in anti-aging products and is highly used in Korean skincare; this plant contains an ingredient called Asiatic Acid that increases the collagen and connective tissue production improving fine lines, wrinkles, and elasticity giving a flawless appearance to the skin.

It is also used in products to treat mainly cellulite, irritation, sunburn, poor circulation in legs, and as an after-care product in aesthetic surgeries, waxing and chemical peelings.  

When looking for a product with all these benefits, you may not find it as “Centella Asiatica,” so look for actives ingredients like Madecassic Acid, Asiaticoside, Asiatic Acid, and madecassoside.
