Skin Care Routine during Puberty to Prevent Acne

Teenage acne is a common condition during puberty period which happens because of hormonal changes and can appear on the back, upper neck, shoulders, and face. The best way to treat this condition is to have a right skincare regime. In this article, we will share with you some recommendations to prevent acne during puberty.

  • Stay hydrated. Make sure to drink enough water on a daily basis. Teach your kid to drink enough water throughout the day and not just when they start to feel thirsty. Drinking water is important for the whole body and skin. It makes your skin look healthy and radiant, plus it helps to get rid of toxins.
  • Wash off makeup before you go to bed. Any makeup left on your face overnight can clog your pores, and lead to acne breakouts
  • Cleanse your face daily. Wash your face once or twice a day if your skin is very oily or dirty. Try to use only mild cleansers for acne prone skin. Heavy cleansers will wash off skin natural oil from your face and this can cause your skin to produce more oil. Excessive oil is the main reason for acne breakouts.

  • Moisturize. Do not forget to moisturize your skin even if it’s oily. But for acne prone skin use oil free moisturizer with light texture.
  • Do not pop your pimples.  Picking or squeezing pimple is a bad idea because it can cause further irritation and transfer the bacteria that can lead to more acne breakouts.
