WHY IS SANDALWOOD GOOD FOR YOUR SKIN?

Sandalwood is a natural antiseptic and preservative that is used in the production of soaps, beauty creams and other toiletries. Sandalwood, popularly known as Chandan in India, has also often been mentioned in the Ayurveda as a natural healer.

1. Blemishes

We all know that blemishes can be pretty stubborn but sandalwood is extremely effective in helping you get rid of these stubborn spots and blemishes in the most natural way.
All You Need Is:

  • 1 tablespoon of turmeric
  • 1 tablespoon of sandalwood powder
  • A small tablet of camphor
  • 1 teaspoon of milk

Method:

  • Mix all the ingredients together into a smooth paste.
  • Gently massage it onto the affected area and leave it on overnight.
  • Wash it off with cold water the next morning.

Doing this regularly will help in removing blemishes and also relax your skin.

2. Pimples

As the skin produces sebum and oil in excess quantities, impurities, dirt and germs begin to clog the skin pores. This is the prime reason why pimples are formed. Sandalwood has anti-bacterial properties that help fight and prevent acne-causing bacteria, making your skin look flawless in the process.
All You Need Is:

  • 1 tablespoon of sandalwood powder
  • 1 teaspoon of milk
  • A pinch of turmeric powder

Method To Fight Acne:

  • Mix all the ingredients into a smooth paste.
  • Apply the paste onto your skin and leave it on for 30 minutes.
  • Wash it off with cold water.

Method To Prevent Acne:

  • Mix 1 tablespoon of sandalwood powder with 1 teaspoon of milk.
  • Apply it to your face and let it stay for 20 minutes.
  • Wash it off with cold water.
  • Gently dab your skin with cotton wool dipped in rose water.

3. Sun Tan

A suntan can get really troubling after a certain period of time. Sandalwood helps in removing the suntan and in reducing sunburn because of its soothing properties.
All You Need Is:

  • 1 tablespoon sandalwood powder
  • 1 teaspoon of honey or milk

Method:

  • Mix the above mentioned ingredients into a smooth paste.
  • Apply it onto your skin.
  • Leave it on for about 30 minutes and then wash it off with cold water.

Do this 3 times a week and see the difference for yourself.

4. Wrinkles and Skin Aging

Exposure to the sun, dust and pollution can lead to the premature ageing of skin and cause wrinkles. Washing your face frequently with a face wash can help remove the dirt but it also strips your face of all the essential oils, resulting in skin problems.

  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 2 tablespoons of sandalwood powder
  • 1 egg yolk

Method:

  • Mix the above mentioned ingredients into a paste and apply it onto your face.
  • Keep it on for about an hour and then wash it off with cold water.

Use this technique regularly to improve your skin’s elasticity and to prevent the sagging of skin.

5. Dry Skin

Dry and flaky skin can be a major cause of itchiness and frustration. The oils present in sandalwood can help you cure these skin problems, leaving your skin soft, supple and moisturised.
All You Need Is:

  • Sandalwood paste

Method:

  • Apply the sandalwood paste onto your skin about twice a week for 30 minutes.
  • Wash it off with cold water
  • Gently pat the skin dry.

6. Swelling

Sandalwood has cooling agents that can help treat swelling.
All You Need Is:

  • Sandalwood powder
  • Turmeric
  • Lavender oil

 Method:

  • Mix all the ingredients into a paste.
  • Apply it on the affected areas.
  • Keep it on for about 30 minutes and then wash it off with cold water.
