It is a sunscreen that has a texture very similar to that of a setting powder. They are ideal for summer, as they are light and mattify the skin. They are the most straightforward and most practical to apply; apply like makeup.

Is it effective?

Yes, but as long as they are used for reapplication or as a touch-up every 2 hours after the first application of traditional liquid sunscreen. It should never be applied as a primary sunscreen because they have less absorption capacity into the skin. Generally, their SPF level is lower, so they are recommended mainly for indoor use rather than outdoor activities. 

What to look for in these types of formulations?

  • Products containing a minimum SPF of 30+.
  • It should be broad-spectrum (protecting against UVA and UVB rays).
  • For sensitive skin, use formulas that contain zinc oxide and titanium dioxide.
  • Containing ceramide and hyaluronic acid to hydrate the skin and antioxidants (vitamin E, vitamin C) for their anti-aging properties and help fight free radicals.
  • Bonus points if it contains iron oxide/iron oxide to protect skin from blue light.
