Skin is an organ that should be in balance like the rest of your body to work properly. We all want clear, beautiful and attractive skin for our beautiful appearance. In cancer patients having chemotherapy and radiotherapy, skin reactions including burning, itching, discomfort and pain are major problems that hurt their self-esteem and disturb the quality of the patient’s life. It is necessary to manage these skin reactions to increase the self-esteem of patients.
To tackle the skin reactions naturally and non-pharmacologically, cancer patients should gather necessary information on natural skin care products and cosmetics before the beginning of their oncology treatment. Patients should do regular skin cleansing. The choice of an appropriate cleanser is a crucial step in cancer patients as their skin barrier is already disturbed due to chemotherapy. So, the use of natural, appropriate, and clinically tested cleanser should be used.
Use of natural pH soaps is prescribed in cancer patient. Skin gets dehydrated during oncology treatment. Therefore, the skin barrier is disturbed and skin gets dry that resulted in dermatitis in cancer patients. The use of proper and clinically tested emollients is recommended in cancer patients. These emollients moisturize the skin and improve the skin barrier that prevents the skin from dryness. But the level of management of these skin reactions in cancer patients is sub-optimal because there is a lack of natural skincare products that should be used in cancer patients.
