Everything which you should know about cellulite

Cellulite is one of the most uncomfortable conditions to hide when wearing a bikini or a short dress. It is nothing more than a disorder that results in modifying the texture of the subcutaneous tissues (fatty tissue). It has many causes, but it is mainly due to the alteration of the venous, arterial, and lymphatic microcirculation of the affected area.

Everything which you should know about cellulite

This condition is suffered by about 90% of women after puberty; it can also be observed in men, but only in a low number of cases. The skin is a little thicker; therefore, the change is not much appreciated. Cellulite is characterized by a classic “orange peel” appearance on the thighs, abdomen, and buttocks.

Besides the changes in microcirculation, what can cause cellulite?

  • Hormonal factors in different situations such as pregnancy, menopause, and other pathological processes such as severe obesity, polycystic ovary syndrome, and diabetes mellitus also favor its appearance.
  • Habits such as alcohol and tobacco can also worsen the condition.
  • Diet plays an important role; the excess of carbohydrates, fats, and salt in meals can accelerate its appearance and worsen its degree of presentation.

How can I improve cellulite?

  • The best way to prevent it and improve it is prolonged physical activity, maintaining a balanced diet free of excess sugars, sodas, and maintaining an ideal weight.
  • Many treatments are ranging from oral products to aesthetic procedures to surgical depending on the severity.
  • Diet along with physical activity remain the essential pillars in the prevention and treatment of this disorder.
