Rice is a common ingredient used in oriental skincare. Many Asian women have been using rice water to wash their face and hair for centuries. Nowadays, more and more people are doing it. Rice not only is going to leave your skin soft but also has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial components like phenols, ferulic acid, phytic acid, and vitamin E.
What are the dermatological uses of rice?
- Skincare products with rice improve radiance, hydration and restore the skin barrier.
- Rice baths have been shown to decrease eczema.
- Rice extract has been comparable to Minoxidil 3% and uses to treat hair loss.
The simplest way to use it for your skin is by making the rice water, and here will show you how:
You only need:
- 1 cup organic rice
- 1 1/2 cup of water
- Cotton
Rinse the rice grains over a strainer. Once the rice is clean, place it in the bowl and add water. Let it soak for at least one hour; ideally, you will leave for one day. After this time, strain the rice and reserve the resulting liquid in a container. Wash and dry your face as usual. Then, take a cotton ball, soak it in the rice water and gently wipe it over your face in a circular motion.
Repeat this action as many times as necessary until you feel that your entire face is moistened with this water and let it dry.
