Are There Different Types of Scalp?

Just like our skin, the scalp also has different types. And it is essential to recognize what type of scalp you have to address different hair and scalp issues. Let’s discuss this in detail.

Are There Different Types of Scalp?

The scalp is considered an extension of our skin with more hair follicles, oil, and sweat glands. That’s why it shares several properties with skin and needs similar attention. As scalp health is directly related to our hair health, it is crucial to understand your scalp to get strong and beautiful hair. Let’s discuss different types of the scalp:

Normal scalp:

A normal scalp means a perfect pH and sebum amount in the scalp. It is the healthiest scalp with the most beautiful hair.

Are There Different Types of Scalp?

Dry scalp:

Dry scalp means scalp with frequent itching and dryness issues. This is because your scalp produces a small amount of sebum, and its pH is alkaline.

Oily scalp:

Oily scalp is associated with a higher amount of sebum production, which causes your hair to be greasy and clumped together. This scalp has acidic pH, attracts impurities from surroundings, and triggers dandruff.

Combination scalp:

Combination scalp, like combination skin, is quite tricky to manage. It is associated with greasy as well as dry patches. Hair with a combination scalp is usually dry and frizzy, and ends with greasy roots.
