Trichorrhexis nodosa is a common hair condition where weak points can be appreciated along with your hair, making it easy to break. It can happen close to your scalp or at your ends, causing what we know as “Split ends.”

What are the causes of split ends or weak hair?
There are many possible causes; it can be a hereditary condition but also be caused by excessive heat on your hair (blow dryers, flat iron), excessive hair combing, and wrong application of hair products, hormonal imbalance, and vitamin deficiency.
How to avoid it?
To prevent your split ends and hair loss, you must avoid the excessive use of a hairdryer, flat iron, chemicals, hair straighteners, and excessive combing. You must also use products that can provide hydration to your hair.
Other ways to protect your hair and make it stronger is
- drinking enough water daily,
- not exceeding the hair quantity,
- applying hair conditioner,
- cutting your hair every couple of months (You don’t have to cut your full hair, just the ends),
- applying a hair mask at least once a week,
- avoiding tight braids, hairstyles and using a heat protector.

DIY hair treatment
One of the most used ingredients is the avocado; you can always make a DIY mask, mixing it with oatmeal and applying it to your ends and scalp; leave it for an hour and later remove it with water and your usual shampoo.
