Everyone loves a glass of wine to cap off a long tiring day. Not only does it help you unwind, but it’s also rich in antioxidants that limit damage from the free radicals, we have been exposed to, throughout the day.
Did you also know that your glass of wine has a skincare counterpart?
It’s called the grape seed oil or Vitus Vinifera which is squeezed out from the seeds after making wine.

In theory, it is comparable to coconut oil, which is abundant in vitamin E and omega fatty acids. However, some prefer this ingredient over coconut oil especially for sensitive and acne-prone skin types because it does not clog pores. Plus, the antioxidants that we love from wine are also found in grape seed oil. Its proanthocyanidins contain 20 times more antioxidants than vitamin E and 50 times more antioxidants than vitamin C. So yes, it does protect your skin from premature aging.
Since it’s packed with vitamins and omega fatty acids, it’s not surprising that it offers myriads of skin benefits. It protects your skin barrier, speeds up wound healing, helps fade dark spots, and decreases the formation of scars and stretch marks.
Although there is no hard evidence to back its claims in skin health, more research is already in place for further support.
