Avoid these DIY hacks to protect your skin

People report wonders by using DIY hacks such as lemon juice and toothpaste for common skin conditions such as acne and dark spots.  But the truth is that these hacks can cause more long-term injury than benefit as they can damage the barrier to your skin.

Avoid these hacks for DIY

  • Lemon juice: It may have citric acid, but it is far too acidic, and after sun exposure may produce dark spots. It can also make your skin dry and irritate.
  • Baking soda: Baking soda at pH levels 8 will stress your skin, significantly decrease the water content of your skin and cause dry skin.
  • Garlic: raw in shape can cause skin allergies, eczema, inflammation of the skin, and water blisters.
  • Toothpaste: toothpaste ingredients may kill germs and absorb oil but may also dry up or irritate your skin.
  • Sugar: Sugar is too hard for the skin on your face as an exfoliate.

Vitamin E: Topical use of vitamin E can irritate your skin and has not been shown to improve the appearance of the scar.

Avoid these DIY hacks to protect your skin

Some of these ingredients are all-natural and economical but are not formulated for your skin. Even if you don’t experience immediate side effects, these ingredients may cause long-term or delayed damage. It is best to use your face products. Talk to your doctor or dermatologist before testing your skin for DIY applications.
