Skincare tendencies for 2021

The beauty industry has changed a lot during the last decades; skincare has evolved, changing chemical ingredients for more natural ones.

Also, priorities have changed, putting health first and decreasing the amount of makeup used, especially during this last year where the pandemic forced everyone to change their routines.

We got used to some routines during 2020, saw the benefits, and will continue with these skincare tendencies for 2021:

  • Organic Skincare: People have become more conscious about the products they are using; hence the new and established brands are making an effort to include those ingredients that benefit your skin but also the environment.
  • DIY routines: During the last year, we had plenty of time to try new products and a combination of ingredients from our own home to improve our skin appearance; we tried them and liked them because they worked; therefore, we will just continue with this trend for the next year.
  • BB-Creams over heavy makeup: They have a double function; the first one is to protect you from sun damage, and at the same time, they improve imperfections on your skin without giving you a heavy makeup look.
  • Focus on your eye-makeup: The “foxy effect” helps us play with the eye shape giving us a more refined look.
  • Mask treatments: The prolonged use of facial masks will continue during this new year; hence skin alterations caused by clogged pores will still be present. A way to prevent masks is keeping strict hygiene of the face, dispose of paper masks after use or wash fabric masks continuously and, add retinoids and salicylic or glycolic acid to your daily routine.
  • Non-invasive aesthetic treatments: Non-surgical facelift, thread lifting, non-surgical nose job, and neuromodulators like botulinum toxin are the most common treatment performed during the last years and will continue this way. They offer good benefits with no downtime; hence people don’t hesitate to try them.
