5 Myths about hair washing.

One of the beauty routines we undoubtedly repeat the most is hair washing. Having healthy and beautiful hair is very important for many people, so we strive to give it the best care.

However, there are still many myths surrounding this ritual that, after hearing them so much, we think are true, most of them coming from different advertising campaigns.

So it’s time to debunk these myths to get healthy, beautiful, and shiny hair.

  1. If you use more shampoo, your hair will be cleaner: False. We only need a shampoo amount equivalent to a teaspoon; we emulsify it in our hands and apply it on the scalp, previously wet. If we wash it daily, there is no need to wash it a second time, but we should do it if we wash it every two or three days of hair washing.
  2. You have to change the shampoo from time to time because the hair gets used to it, and it is no longer as effective: We have heard this a lot with creams, but there is also a hair version. If a shampoo is working well and the hair is healthy and shiny, there is no need to change it. It is only necessary to change shampoo when the hair is dull, dull, or the scalp is irritated or has other discomforts.
  3. Shampoo must lather to leave hair clean: This is entirely false. Shampoos that lather a lot contain sulfates, but that doesn’t mean they clean more. Sulfate-free shampoos contain natural, biodegradable, and environmentally friendly surfactants that don’t lather as much but clean the hair effectively.
  4. You can’t wash your hair every day because it gets used to it and falls out more: Another big lie. We have to wash our hair when we feel it is dirty, and if it is every day, nothing happens. It is better to remove grease or residues than to leave them on the scalp. It doesn’t fall out more if you wash it more often. However, if it is cleaned daily, it is advisable to choose a gentle shampoo that respects the scalp and hair.
  5. You have to rub hard to wash your hair well: This, besides being false, can damage our hair since the only thing we will get if we rub the hair too hard is that the cuticle opens, and the hair becomes more frizzy. Gently massage the scalp with your fingertips, leave the shampoo on for 1 to 3 minutes and then use your fingers to wash your hair without rubbing.
