What is Your Scalp Type?

There are two things to take note of when it comes to your scalp– the pH and oil production. Scalp Type

The pH of your scalp should fall within 4.5 to 5.5 making it a bit acidic. This pH keeps bacteria and fungi at bay.

On the other hand, the oil on your scalp keeps your hair strong and shiny. But too much of it, can cause clogging (just like in your skin). Scalp Type

Three Basic Scalp Types

Oily

If you feel like your scalp gets flat and greasy and your strands seem to group together after a day of not washing your hair, you most likely have an oily scalp

The oil is good to keep your hair strong, but too much of it can also lead to dandruff. So, go for shampoos that can rebalance the pH of your scalp. Because drying it up too much can create a rebound effect and promote more oil production.

Dry

If you find yourself scratching your scalp a number of times in a day and your scalp feels tight, probably this is what you have.

It might be best for you not to wash your hair on a daily basis to absorb more oil. And go for shampoos that contain oils that will help nourish and moisturize your scalp.

Normal

This means that your scalp manifests the right amount of oil depending on your environment and activity.

If you have this, still moisturize your hair once in a while to protect your hair from external damage.
