Vegan skincare ingredients mean not containing any animal ingredient or animal-derived by-product. The main concept behind it is not to exploit animals for human benefits. There are several benefits of veganism in skincare:
- It gives cruelty-free products. So no animal is used for obtaining any ingredient or testing any new product.
- It reduces your negative impact on your environment.
- It reduces skin aggravation as most vegan products are gentle for our skin.
There are so many products that have been used in the skincare industry, but they have an animal origin. Luckily there are alternatives available for these products. Let’s discuss a few of them:
Honey: It is used for skin softening and calming. Jojoba oil or argan oil could be the perfect swap for it.
Glycerine: Obtained from animal fats usually, but vegetable glycerine is also available.
Gelatin: Obtained from animal skin, ligaments, tendons, and bones. Its alternative is agar-agar powder.
Makeup brushes: Usually squirrel, goat, or horsehair is used. They can be swapped with synthetic fibers like nylon, tacklon, etc.
