Warning Signs And Symptoms Of Heat Stroke

Heat stroke is the most common heat stress-related illness. It is a serious condition that occurs when your body is overheated in response to the extreme temperature of the surroundings or prolonged exposure or physical exertion in high temperatures.

Some of the signs and symptoms of heat stroke include:

  • High body temperature
  • Altered mental state
  • Flushed skin
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Excess sweating
  • Rapid breathing
  • Increased heart rate
  • Headache

Emergency Treatment:

A heat stroke is an emergency condition and it requires immediate treatment to normalize the patient as quickly as you can to avert the patient’s brain, heart, and other vital organs from further damage. 

You can do the following things immediately to make the patient feel better.

  • Calling any medical assistance helpline can be the most effective first thing that you do.
  • Then take immediate actions to cool the overheated patient while waiting for the medical aid to arrive.
  • Remove the patient from the heated surroundings.
  • Aerate the patient and remove extra clothes.
  • Cool the patient by sprinkling some water and any other means available. Especially apply the cooling mechanism over the person’s head, neck, armpits, and groin.

The possible reasons for heat stroke could be your age, exertion in hot weather, sudden exposure to hot weather, lack of air conditioning, certain medicine, and certain health conditions.
