Psoriasis lesions often appear after stress and emotionally traumatic episodes, but also, the actual cause is unknown.

Psoriasis is a problem that affects around 3% of the world’s population. The diagnosis is often frightening since has no cure, but it is not contagious and can be controlled so that the patient can have an utterly everyday life.

- Exfoliation: It is contraindicated for patients who have psoriasis; this procedure can cause an alteration of the skin, triggering a new crisis. The excess exfoliation can trigger the Koebner phenomenon. A trauma in some healthy regions of the skin leads to the appearance of lesions in other parts of the body.
- Hydration: The use of moisturizer all over your body is mandatory if you have psoriasis, especially in the affected areas. Go for moisturizers without a lot of perfume and color, as they are less likely to trigger an allergy.
- Bath: When suffering from psoriasis, the patient’s bath be quick, warm, and using a neutral soap and glycerin versions. Finally, dry the skin with a soft towel without rubbing and take particular care with the injured areas.
- Cosmetics: Always before performing any cosmetic procedure, you must consult your dermatologist. Most products can be used on regions free of lesions; however, it can aggravate the condition in some areas with trauma.
- Sun: Sunbathing is recommended for patients with psoriasis as long as they follow some recommendations. First of all, only take sunbaths in the morning until 10 am and in the afternoon after 4 pm. Sunscreen can be used only on long-lasting lesions, and after sunbathing, it is recommended to use a moisturizing cream.
- Hair removal: The patient with psoriasis should go for a hair removal method that doesn’t traumatize the skin. The ideal is to treat the skin before performing any procedure to avoid aggravating the condition.
