Calamine lotion, a medicated product, is used to reduce skin infections and allergies. Nowadays, many beauticians are using this as a basic make primer to increase the credibility of the makeup. They apply a thin layer of calamine lotion and then wait for a few minutes and let it dry, then apply the foundation for flawless appearance that lasts for the whole day. According to an expert dermatologist, using calamine lotion as a makeup primer can be beneficial for the skin but only for a short time. After certain months, it will start damaging the skin cells if used for longer. The damage caused by calamine lotion by frequently using it can cause irreparable damage to our skin.
People with oily skin types may see some benefits, but it can still damage the skin barrier. It’s not recommended for those with sensitive or dry skin or chronic skin conditions like rosacea, eczema, or psoriasis.
But still, after all these side effects, the calamine lotion can be used as a moisturizer and screen protector to remove acne scars. But as it is a medicated product with few side effects, it must be used in accurate frequency and dose to reduce the damage caused by it.
