Korean skincare is a phenomenon that has more and more fans every day. Beautiful packaging, a strong environmental awareness, and well-known ingredients such as Centella Asiatica, hyaluronic acid, bamboo, niacinamide, rice extract, yuzu, among many others, have closed the perfect circle to place Korean cosmetics at the top of the podium in terms of beauty product sales worldwide. 

We will go through the most used ingredients in Korean cosmetics and the Korean Skincare benefits after their use.

  • Bamboo: It is commonly used due to the medicinal benefits, can work as an antioxidant, astringent, anti-inflammatory, and prevent infections caused by bacteria or fungi.
  • Green Tea: Besides applying it to your face, you can drink it, and it will still be useful. Green tea has anti-oxidants, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties.
  • Guaiazulene: Derives from azulene and is a dark blue hydrocarbon that conditions the skin and works as an anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant.
  • Rice Extract: Being one of the most used ingredients in Asia has allowed us to deeply study their properties. It can be used as an oil, water, or extract and is used as an anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, and also brightens the skin by inhibiting tyrosinase. 
  • Heartleaf: It is also known as houttuynia cordata. It has anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties and can prevent breakouts. 
  • Tea tree oil: This ingredient is derived from Melaleuca alternifolia. It is incredible as an anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and anti-oxidant. At the same time is widely used to treat acne and any other inflammatory skin condition.
  • Yuzu: Is an edible fruit also known as citrus Junos. Works as an anti-inflammatory, brightening ingredients, anti-oxidant, and increasing collagen production.
  • Birch Extract: Enhances skin moisture and improves the overall look. Also, as most ingredients are anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory. 
  • Cactus Extract: This ingredient is also anti-oxidant, moisturizer and anti-inflammatory. Besides these, it is rich in vitamins, amino acids, and fatty acids. 

Artemisia: This plant is commonly used as a healing ingredient, not only repairs the skin barrier and reduces inflammation, and has anti-bacterial properties.
