During the menstrual period, hormones do their thing; in addition to experiencing the symptoms, that menstruation usually does, such as fatigue, pain, mood swings, and swelling, you will notice that the skin is affected by acne, and many other skin problems.
How does the menstrual period affect skincare?
During this period, the sebaceous glands are affected, so sebum production is increased, which is likely combined with the accumulation of dead skin cells in the area, which will result in an acne breakout.
There are many products on the market that claim to treat period acne; are they effective?

The answer is yes, and no; these products may cause improvement in your skin condition; however, they will not treat the underlying reason. Period skin changes are mostly related to hormonal changes, and topical products cannot fully treat this condition.
These products usually have green tea and zinc ingredients, which will improve the lesions and reduce inflammation. During your period, it not necessary to use a specific acne treatment; however, you can continue with your skincare routine as long as it suits your needs; for example, if your skin is oily, use specific products for your skin like salicylic acid and glycolic acid.
