We’re not going to beat around the bush – pores are annoying af! What’s even more frustrating is that you can never actually get rid of them. But don’t panic just yet, as you can, however, tighten them so that you can barely notice them – mega relief – and these DIY pore strips will majorly help.
Pore 101
Before we get to the solution, we’ll give you a quick de-brief on the science of pores. What you probably don’t know, is that a pore is the opening to a hair follicle. The hair is literally so tiny you can’t even see it, however, due to the oil gland at the base of the follicle, the more oil your glands produces, the bigger your pores will grow. That’s why people with dry skin often have tiny pores, and those with oily skin have more noticeable pores. The best thing to do is keep them as unclogged as possible and don’t EVER squeeze them, as this can stretch them out.
One of the quickest ways the degunk your pores is by using a pore strip; although it’s important to note you shouldn’t do this more often than every two weeks, as they can be quite harsh on your skin. If you’ve ever experienced the eye-watering pain of a nose strip, you’ll be familiar with the experience. The good news is, as with most beauty products, there’s a DIY alternative that you probably already have in your fridge, and it’s also much more gentle on your nose.
