The Covid-19 pandemic has been going on for more than a year now, and we have realized that it is capable of affecting our respiratory system and other areas of our body, such as the skin. Either by having the virus present in our organism or by the constant use of the mask to prevent it.
Maskne
This is a combination of the word “mask” + “acne,” it is mechanical acne due to the constant friction of the mask with the skin, combined with the humidity from inside the mask, pH alterations, and bacteria overgrowth.
COVID Toes:
Lesions resembling “pernio” or chilblains. Usually in feet and hands during mild or even asymptomatic covid-19 infection. You may notices swelling and redness in your finger and toes, similar to frostbite.
Mucous Lesions in Tongue:
You Will notice your tongue can look similar to the geographic tongue; this condition will disappear by itself.
Hair Loss:
It is found in 25% of covid cases; it is reversible; therefore, it will just be a matter of time until you get your hair back.
How to treat these conditions?
In most cases, which are mild, you can just use OTC products like moisturizers, antioxidants, sunscreen, and anti-inflammatories, as long as your physician agrees with it.
