Home remedies for Milia

Milia are small, dome-shaped bumps that are usually white or yellow. They typically do not itch or hurt; however, they can cause discomfort for some people.

Millia is generally found on the face, lips, eyelids, cheeks, torso, or genitals. They are not infectious or caused by fungi or bacteria.

Many OTC or home remedies have been developed for Milia, and we will be focusing on the home remedies.

Why are they caused?

There are many reasons why milia are caused; some are heavy creams, sleeping in makeup, sun damage, heredity, and inadequate exfoliation.

How can Milia be treated?

You can go to a specialist to remove them manually (using a needle) and always under strict cleanliness conditions. It is best to avoid them, and this is very easy. You can use products like Saliciclyc acid or retinoids, but also you can use some typical home ingredients.

Here we will go through some of the home remedies you can use to treat Milia:

  • Honey

Honey’s amino acids, antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and moisturizing properties help retain moisture and prevent dryness.

You can just add honey by itself to your face, and it will do the job. For best results, use it daily. It will certainly work wonders when combined with some other ingredients.

You can mix one tablespoon of jojoba oil with two tablespoons of honey. Spread it on your face and keep it on for 15 to 20 minutes.

  • Steam

Good steam can unclog pores and remove debris and dead skin cells. It’s a simple process. Simply dampen a towel in hot water and squeeze out the excess water.

Now, put this towel on your face for a few minutes and then remove it. Repeat this process a couple of times.

  • Oatmeal scrub

Oatmeal scrub unclogs blocked pores. Many studies have shown that oatmeal is a beneficial ingredient for skincare products. Colloidal oatmeal relieves dry, itchy skin.

Take one tablespoon of granulated sugar and raw honey and three tablespoons of oatmeal. Mix all ingredients and gently rub your skin for a few minutes. Then rinse.

  • Lemon sugar juice scrub

Lemon juice is used in many facial cleansing products. The homemade scrub requires two tablespoons of sugar, half a lemon juice, and one teaspoon of olive oil.

Mix the three ingredients and gently scrub your face with this mixture. Leave it on for 20 minutes and wash it off.

It is a highly beneficial remedy that exfoliates the skin and helps you get rid of milia.
