1) DIY AT-HOME STEAM AND SAUNA

Treating your body to steam or sauna is an incredible way to boost your body’s natural detoxification processes. That’s because the heat stimulates the nervous, immune, and circulatory systems, and then toxins are eliminated through sweating. But did you also know that you can boost these benefits when you combine it with essential oils and hydrosols?

Most people go to a gym or health spa to sit in a sauna, but you can easily create your own at home without the cost or travel. Follow these steps:

  • Choose the smallest bathroom in your house because you can generate heat and steam more quickly than in a larger bathroom.
  • Just in case you get too hot and need to cool off keep a clean washcloth at the ready soaking in a plastic or metal bowl filled with ice-cold water. Alternatively, bring your spritzer (see DIY recipes below) right into the steam or sauna and spray it liberally all over your body.
  • Shut the doors and use towels to block spaces where air may escape out.
  • Plug your bathtub drain and run hot water in it. Be careful not to scald your skin with the hot running water.
  • Close your shower curtain while water is running. This will cause more heat and steam to develop turning your bathtub into a sauna-like atmosphere.
  • Sit on the side of the bathtub carefully and experience the warmth after your tub has filled up. Pull the curtain back and lean over the tub for 15 to 20 minutes. Take the cold washcloth and wipe the sweat off your skin to help you cool off.
  • If you feel dizzy, leave the bathroom immediately and drink cold water.DIY Detoxifying Spritzer: enhances the cleansing benefits of heat treatment.
