DIY Detox Tea Recipes For Radiant Skin

Perfect skin is a mystery – everyone wants it but few people actually have it. With the technology of Photoshop and Instagram filters, it’s hard to tell who actually has that picture perfect skin. In reality, everyone gets acne, dry skin and age spots. With so much pollution, dirt and chemicals in the air and in our products, there’s no wonder our skin is under toxic overload. Add seasonal changes, bad diet and hormones to that mix and you’re sure to end up with a blemish or two.

Perfect skin is the ultimate wish and it certainly doesn’t come easily or naturally. However there is one way to help battle all your skin problems, naturally and effectively – detox teas! For many people, detoxing is a regular part of their yearly routine. Given the amount of impurities we’re exposed to on a regular basis, it makes sense that we cleanse the body on a regular basis too – at least once or twice a year. And detox teas are the perfect way to do it!

Here are 3 detox tea recipes for maintaining healthy, radiant skin naturally:

Detox Green Tea Recipe

Why we love it: Bursting with skin-protecting antioxidants

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz hot water
  • 1 green tea bag
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon honey

Lemon, Ginger & Turmeric Detox Tea Recipe

Why we love it: removing toxins, increasing antioxidants, enhancing digestion and boosting immunity.

Concentrated tea Ingredients:

  • 6 c water
  • 1 chunk fresh ginger {approximately 5-6″ in length}
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 tsp ground turmeric
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper
  • 6 fresh lemons

Instructions:

  1. peel the ginger and dice into thin slices.
  2. Add the ginger and 6 cups of water in a large pot over high heat.
  3. Bring to a boil, then turn to low heat and simmer for about 10 minutes.
  4. Add the cinnamon sticks, turmeric and cayenne and simmer on low heat for another 10 minutes; stirring occasionally.
  5. Let it cool and strain.
  6. Store in a glass container in the fridge.

Tip:

Every morning and throughout the day, mix ¼ cup of this concentrated tea plus ½ squeezed fresh lemon juice with 6 oz hot water.

Turmeric Detox Tea Recipe

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup turmeric powder
  • 1 cup to 1 ½ cup hot water
  • 1.5 tsp ground black pepper
  • 5 tbsp coconut oil

Instructions:

  1. Mix water 1 cup hot water with turmeric powder in a pan and slowly heat it up and stir for 6-10 minutes until you get a thick paste (add the additional ½ cup water if it is too thick).
  2. Add black pepper and coconut oil and continue stirring until all the ingredients are fully mixed in together.
  3. Allow the paste to cool. Store in the refrigerator in a jar for up to 1-2 weeks.
