Applying lipstick to your lips can be tricky. It doesn’t matter if you have thin or thick lips; there are still a few things you must avoid to achieve perfect makeup in this area that tends to be the center of attention.
One of the first aspects you need to consider is skin hydration. Dehydrated lips won’t be able to maintain the lipstick for so long. Also, the consistency of the lipstick will play an important part depending on your age and wrinkles appearance. If you have the wrinkles known as “bar code” or “smokers lines,” certain lipstick will bleed to those giving you an unwanted appearance.
Here you have some of the mistakes that you can make when applying makeup on your lips:
- Avoid exfoliation: It will prevent you from removing the dead skin on the area and won’t allow it to be properly hydrated.
- Not respecting your lip’s natural shape: In most cases, changing the natural shape of your lips with the lipstick will show an unnatural look.
- Skipping foundation in the area: Foundation will help your lipstick adhere longer and help it settle for longer periods.
- Choosing the wrong colors: Not every lipstick color can match every skin tone. Some bright colors can better match lighter skin colors, while some deep reds can go well with darker complexion.
- Applying more product than needed: Applying more lipstick than needed will increase your chances of spreading your product everywhere, increasing your chances of getting stains on your clothes and other accessories.
