Split ends are often the reason behind your dry, dull, and lifeless hair. No matter how much you spend on your shampoos and conditioners, they don’t seem to make a difference. Keep reading to know if you actually can get rid of it.
Split ends of your hair mean a broken cuticle so that the inner core is no longer protected and is exposed. This leaves hair prone to splitting and breaking. Most commonly, they are seen by splitting the ends of the hair into two or three. And the most common question is can you fix this damage?
An honest answer is a no. The damage done is done. The only option to get rid of split ends is to trim them.
Now the question should be, can you prevent this damage? Yes. Though it is also tricky, that’s a more viable option. Following are some of the expert-suggested tips to prevent split ends:
- While shampooing, focus on your roots, not on your ends.
- Choose a nourishing conditioner with amino acids. Better to go for a leave-in conditioner.
- Towel drying your hair leaves them more prone to damage and split ends, so don’t towel dry; gentle pat dry your hair.
- Use a wide-toothed comb.
- Lower the use of heat as much as you can as it promotes split ends.
