Are Silk Pillowcases Really Good for Our Skin and Hair

Silk pillowcases are often associated with preventing hair breakage and skin damage. It is said to prevent wrinkles. Let’s find out if it is true or merely a myth.

The smooth surface of silk pillowcases and beddings is surely very soothing to help you fall asleep. But generally, it is said that it is very much beneficial for our skin and hair health. Its smooth surface prevents the creasing and wrinkling of the skin and brittle and breaking of hair. It is true to some extent. As silk pillowcases provide less friction than the standard cotton pillowcases, it does assist in acting as anti-aging.

Silk pillowcases don’t usually absorb moisture from our skin and thus helps skin stay hydrated. This is particularly beneficial in winter and dry seasons. Silk pillowcases are a good choice for dry and sensitive skin. But contrary to popular opinion that silk pillowcases are hypoallergenic, it is not. So if you are allergic to beddings and material, make sure you test that beforehand. It also helps with frizzy, tangled hair and helps you give a more manageable hair.

Silk pillowcases do indeed make a difference. It would be a nice addition along with your careful skincare regimen, as relying merely on changing to nice and smooth pillowcases won’t provide the benefits you want to see.
