Most dermatologists are against DIY facial with homemade ingredients, mostly because people tend to use them the wrong way.
There is nothing wrong with using fruits or other kitchen ingredients as topical creams as long as you do a patch test before, apply your homemade mask behind your ear, and leave for some minutes to see how your skin can react.
Here we will go through some of the ingredients you can apply to your face, and that is approved by a dermatologist:
- Egg whites: Can be used with other ingredients like avocado and works as a cleanser helping you to get rid of blackheads; at the same time acts as a moisturizer and anti-inflammatory. DIY facial
- Milk: The way to apply it is by soaking a clean towel, tissue, or gauze on milk and removing the excess before using it on your skin. By leaving tissue on the area for 10-15 minutes and then removing it with warm water, you will feel your skin feels softer.
- Coconut Oil: The use of this oil is controversial; the benefits are amazing because it works as an anti-inflammatory and calming product but at the same time can be classified as comedogenic. The use of coconut oil is recommended for dry skin, especially in elbows and feel, and to treat skin conditions like eczema. To treat the dryness on your feet, apply a small quantity of oil after your shower in the evening and cover the area with socks overnight.
- Oatmeal and Honey: This combination is one of the most recommended, not only have antibacterial properties and can moisturize and calm your skin. Just mix in and apply as a mask for 5-10 mins before removing with warm water.
- Green tea: It is incredible to calm redness when combined with rose water. To apply them together, mix 2 or 3 bags of tea with boiling water and leave it to rest for 20 minutes. After this, just add the rose water and keep it in the fridge.
Sugar: Is one of the trendiest ingredients; however, when it is not used correctly can cause micro lesions on your skin.
Sugar is commonly used to exfoliate and use it; you just need to mix it with olive or coconut oil and gently rub it into your face.
