- Don’t remove your makeup before sleeping: Most makeup products can clog your pores and be comedogenic, and leaving them overnight may be the worst mistake you can make; this will just increase your chances of breakouts.
- Been exposed to sunlight without sunscreen: Besides increasing breakouts increases the chances of hyperpigmentation, always use at least SPF 30 before doing outdoor activities.
- Wait for magic solutions: There is no magic wand you can use and make the acne disappear; all the treatments take weeks or even months to show improvements.
- Follow every skincare tip you see online: Not everything you see online will work on your skin or concern, have common sense, and follow recommendations of well-established websites.
- Buy tons of products without knowing what they are for: Sometimes, when you go to the store, you buy all the products that say they work for acne when the reality is that some of them cannot even be used together. Consult with a professional and wait for specific recommendations before buying everything you see.
- Self-medicate: Not every oral or topic treatment works for all skin type, before purchasing any drug wait for a formal evaluation, plus is more likely you will need a prescription for this type of product.
- Squeeze your pimples: Squeezing every new spot you see on your skin can lead to inflammation and possible hyperpigmentation of the area.
- Skip the dermatologist: By skipping the visit to a professional, you delay the diagnosis; therefore, you won’t get your treatment on time.
- Not being constant with your products: Never skip a step or a day on your daily skin routine. Do it every morning and every night before bed. The key to treat acne is consistency.
- Demonize some treatments: Some products may seem toxic, or you probably read a bad review, but that doesn’t mean it will not work on your skin.
