6 Haircare myths debunked.

There are so many myths about hair care that we’ve come to believe them to the point of accepting them completely.

However, with time, we have learned that not everything you read or see is true.

While it’s very true that many of them have a genuine part, you might not be so wrong to believe that some of them might not be entirely correct.

Here we will go through the most known myths related to hair care:

  1. It is bad to wash your hair every day: This is possibly one of the myths about hair care that we have heard repeatedly. However, it has been proven that the frequency of washing depends on your hair type and its needs. While for some hair, daily washing is essential to keep it clean and oil-free, for others – such as dryer or thinner hair – it is preferable to space washes out. So before determining if it’s a bad habit, we recommend you find out what your hair really needs.
  2. Conditioner makes hair greasy: This is a big hair care myth: in fact, conditioners are excellent allies for keeping hair moisturized and sealing the cuticle after shampooing, as long as you apply them correctly. However, remember that their use should always be limited to the mid-lengths to the ends, but never on the scalp.
  3. Shampooing your hair promotes growth: While this act promotes a much healthier manner, it is not directly related to accelerated hair growth, as it does not influence the strengthening of hair follicles.
  4. It is possible to thicken hair: Your hair’s thickness depends entirely on your genetics and even your age. And yes, although there are effective treatments to strengthen the hair strand, that doesn’t mean it will magically become much thicker. However, there are always ways to make the most of your thinning hair and even make it look much fuller.
  5. If you pluck a gray hair, more will appear: This is totally false! Gray hair is another one of those factors that depend mostly on your genetics. That’s exactly the reason why they can appear at an early age in greater or lesser quantity.
  6. Hair products lose effectiveness over time: The only way they lose effectiveness is if your hair needs have changed due to hormonal or climatic factors, habits, or routines. In that case, you will notice that your products have indeed stopped working, but it is not due to their formula per se.
