5 Habits That Undermine the Health of Your Skin and Hair

Maybe you’re really disciplined with your beauty routine, heck you probably even buy really expensive products; but guess what? You might not be aware of some of these common skin care and hair care mistakes. Before you buy your next beauty product consider keeping these facts in mind.

1. Not Hydrating Enough

Okay, you’ve heard it over and over. Drink more water. But hydration is not just about that. It’s about the other stuff you’re drinking too. Did you know that drinking alcohol, soda and coffee will dehydrate your skin and hair?

  1. All those late night dinners & parties; drinking the night away cause your hair to get weak, brittle and more prone to split ends. Too much alcohol triggers a zinc deficiency in the body which is connected to hair loss.
  2. When it comes to soda we know that it’s mostly made of sugar.  And high sugar content slows hydration. Your body needs more time to process sugars so it takes water away from other places in your body to break down the sugar.
  3. You may love the laxative effect and energy boost from coffee but unfortunately all that caffeine is just making your skin even more dehydrated. Think of switching coffee for green tea or herbal tea.

Naturally it wouldn’t be realistic to completely give up on your favorite drinks so just know the consequences of these behaviors in case you think you are doing everything right but still scratching your head and asking yourself; why does my skin look dull and dehydrated?
