This is What You Need to Know about Laser Hair Removal Devices

The most effective laser hair removal devices are considered medical devices; therefore, you can only find them in medical facilities, and fully-trained therapists can only use them. There are many types of devices, and each one can treat specific types of skin and other concerns.

To choose the right laser hair removal, you must consider these:

  1. Hair thickness
  2. Hair Color
  3. Skin Color
  4. Area treated

Types of Laser

  • Ruby: Recommended for dark hair and skin phototype I-III.
  • Alexandrite: Can treat skin phototypes II-IV and brown and black hair.
  • Diode: Can treat almost every skin phototype (I-V).
  • YAG: Can treat skin phototypes I-III.

How many sessions are needed to see results?

It will depend on the device used; in most cases, the residual hair is less evident, and after the second session, you will start noticing the changes.

What is the best type of Laser?

There is no a “best” type of Laser; all of them are effective; however, each treats different skin types. Every Laser must be chosen individually, and a full consultation should be done before any treatment.

Is IPL the same as Laser?

No, IPL stands for Intense Pulse Light; even if it removes hair, it is not as effective as the laser hair removal devices and will need multiples touch-up every couple of months to prevent the hair from growing.
