Common Mistakes during Body Exfoliation

There are times when we don’t get our desired results after Exfoliation; in fact, we get irritated skin; this is because we tend to make some mistakes during the process. Body exfoliation brings many benefits like renewing skin, enhancing sun tan, preventing ingrown hair after waxing, removing dead skin cells, and improving circulation and oxygenation; hence, you should never skip exfoliation if you want to see these results.

Common mistakes during Body Exfoliation:

  1. Exfoliate with dry skin: removing dead skin cells with humid skin is really important; this will make the process easier and will avoid producing micro-lesions in the skin while applying the products.
  2. Exfoliate irritated skin: this is dangerous, especially if you have open wounds; this could damage more the area, irritating, also the skin will be more exposed to bacteria and have a higher risk of infection. Only exfoliate healthy skin and if you are trying a new products apply first in a small area to check how your skin will react.
  3. Not applying moisturizer after exfoliation: applying moisturizer is a must; when you exfoliate, your skin will absorb the products used better. Also, after this process skin needs to recover the water level that is lost during exfoliation
  4. Rubbing the product in skin too much: even if massaging the area is essential, you need to do it with gentle movements; if you apply strong movements, you will not only irritate the skin but also create micro-injuries and, in some cases, sagginess.
  5. Exfoliating too often: even if exfoliation benefits you by removing the dead skin, this one needs to have a recovery time. This is one of the reasons why you can only repeat the process twice per week. If you suffer from sensitive skin, you should only do it every 15 days. Exfoliating too often can irritate your skin and also damage the skin protection barrier.
